Training & Mobilisation

Since 2007, we have been intentionally connecting with the Church across North Africa and the greater Middle East, with a focus on nations such as Egypt, Armenia, and more recently, Lebanon. Prior to this, our focus included other parts of the 10/40 Window and the South Pacific region.

Year after year, we’ve led and participated in strategic prayer and training initiatives—strengthening and encouraging the Body of Christ in these regions.

In 2009, we were invited to partner with the Church in Egypt to host a non-denominational pastors and leaders conference. With the generous support of faithful believers in Australia—and the partnership of dear ministry colleagues and friends—we’ve continued to serve the Church in this region ever since.

In 2019, we celebrated 10 years of hosting the annual CHI-Ministries Pastors & Leaders Conference in Egypt, gathering more than 700 participants from across the region.

A Beautiful Mosaic of the Church

Our conferences bring together a rich tapestry of believers—a beautiful mosaic of ages, backgrounds, personalities, and denominational streams. From young adults to seasoned leaders, emerging voices to experienced pastors, each conference becomes a powerful moment of instruction, worship, and Spirit-led intercession.

Alongside these gatherings, we have translated and printed several Christian books and specialised training workbooks. We’ve also launched targeted training initiatives, including:

  • Marriage and family seminars
  • Training for marriage counsellors
  • Spiritual formation pathways
  • Prayer and intercession development
  • Leadership development for emerging leaders
  • Missional Living and cross-cultural engagement
  • Pastoral Equipping & Encouragement

These efforts have borne significant fruit and continue to serve the broader vision of transformation across the Isaiah 19 Highway nations.

Let’s not forget: despite centuries of persecution and hardship, God has preserved His witness in this region. Today, nearly 65% of Christians in the Arab world live in Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria—a testimony to His faithfulness. The light of Christ still burns brightly, and these nations remain key to seeing God’s redemptive purposes fulfilled.

Expanding Beyond the Middle East

In more recent years, God has opened new doors for training and mobilisation in Southern Africa, Madagascar, and the United Kingdom. We are now actively developing discipleship resources for churches, leaders, and groups across these regions, including:

  1. Prayer in Mission course
  2. Missionary and Church Planter Training
  3. Leadership and Spiritual Formation Pathways
  4. Discipleship in Community — The Way of Christ

It’s a profound honour to be welcomed into the heart of the Church in these nations—to serve their leaders, encourage their mission, and help strengthen what God is building.

As it says in Esther 4:14,
“Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
We believe we have been called—for such a time as this—to stand with the Church in these regions, to support, empower, and midwife what God is birthing.

“I have had the honour of joining Pastor Ben on several occasions as a speaker at his pastors and leader’s conference in Egypt. Egypt is a strategic country for reaching North Africa and the Middle East.
Ben’s God-given vision for North Africa and the Middle East is inspiring. His commitment to prayer, his tenacity of vision and sheer. hard work are beginning to reap extraordinary results. The potential for North Africa and the surrounding nations is so exciting. I believe in what he’s doing and support him and his vision 100%.”

Pastor Bruce Hills,

International Director, World Outreach International

“In September 2012 and 2017 I had the privilege of joining a team of four other Australian Pastors, headed up by Pastor Ben Gray, in ministering to hundreds of Pastors and Leaders at CHI-Ministries annual Egyptian pastors and leaders conference at a centre halfway between Cairo and Alexandria.
The Spiritual hunger and positive response from those attending the Conference was very encouraging and wonderful to see. These conferences assist and encourage leaders in developing their skills and in building up their holy faith. I was impressed with the significant influence he has developed with key leaders in Egypt and other North African nations. Ben’s passion and revelation that the
Lord has given him for these Nations is remarkable, exciting highly worthy of our prayerful and financial support.”
